Way's letter describes a fire in a business section of San Francisco. He says that the fire burned on Montgomery Street from Clay to Jackson, on Jackson up to Dupont and Dupont up to Washington. Two 1917 letters from the donor accompany the Way letter and include biographic information about Braxton.
